Imagine doing the right thing by the environment by investing in energy efficiency works and getting paid to do it. How does this work?
In NSW, energy retailers and others must achieve annual energy efficiency targets or face stiff penalties. To provide a mechanism for these liable entities to achieve savings, the Government introduced energy saving certificates. These can be created by any business undertaking energy efficiency works (subject to complying with the scheme’s rules). Once certificates are created they can be sold, usually to liable entities to help them meet their energy saving targets.
