Client Functions

Last year we started to host functions for our long term regular clients which gave us the opportunity to spend social time with them. We always appreciate the on-going support from our clients and the referrals we receive from their networks. Yet on a day to day basis it\’s hard to express our sincere gratitude.

The first function was held on a boat in Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour. Knowing Application Solutions Director is a boatie kind of person this came as no surprise. We enjoyed videos of voyages to Vanuatu played on the TV down below, there was delicious food in enormous quantities streaming out of the galley, and happy conversations of guests throughout the night.

A ‘getting to know you’ activity was conducted with the double purpose of providing an induction quiz to the nautical life. The quiz involved getting one point for the right answer to a question and 2 points for a really good wrong answer. Here is an example:

  On a Ship,

What is?

 Answer  Alternate Answer
1 Heaving Line A heaving line is a lightweight rope or cable that\’s used to establish a connection with people in another ship, on-shore. Rope used to hold on to while being sick.
2  Latitude The angular distance of a place north or south of the earth\’s equator. Number of degrees off course allowed a guest at the helm.
3  Bare Poles Sailing in stormy seas with no sails set. Sailing with unclothed persons from Eastern Europe.
4  Bulkhead One of the upright partitions dividing a ship into compartments and serving to add structural rigidity. 1) Uni-sex bathroom.  2) Discomfort suffered by sailors who drink too much. 3) Boater with a very large cranium.

The events have been a great success and we hope to have more occasions in the future. A few weeks ago, the boat set-off to its home port in Hobart and we expect to see her back again in the summer.
