We are always on the lookout for innovative solutions. When this project from Wollongong came along, we just had to have a second look.
A team made up of people from the University of Wollongong, the local technical college TAFE Illawarra, and local industries put this project together. This team, aptly named Team UOW set out to retrofit the ubiquitous fibro house. In the process the original house would be transformed into a net zero energy house. This ambitious project has also taken on a competitive edge with its entry in the Solar Decathlon China 2013 competition.
The Solar Decathlon China 2013 competition is co-hosted by the US Department of Energy and the National Energy Administration China. It challenges university teams to design, build and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient and attractive. So, good luck Team UOW! The nation is behind you.
